Sholay

Was just watching Sholay on television. One of the networks was playing it.

It continues to be one of my most favourite Hindi movies of all time. And to think that they managed to shoot such a movie during the 70's is something. And it launched an entire generation of movies of a similar "daku-village' nature.

 

Sholday is long, but it has everything in it- there is tragedy, there is more than enough drama, a good collection of songs, an amazing villain - everything in the melting pot for an amazing power punch of entertainment.

 

Amjad Khan is jst amazing!! I think its one of the best and a revolutionary villainous role in HIndi cinema. He was eccentric, he started the 'trade-mark' psychopathic laugh, he was just a trail-blazer!! I thin it was the best thing that ever happened to that movie. Hindi cinema would not have been the same if it was not for him.

 

Unfortnately, this great artist is no more among us. This is to him!!
